REVIEWS
I purchased this for my Cultural Competence in the Helping Professions course. I have always considered myself a culturally aware person, but have often struggled with what is called "Cultural Competency" because I think many of the things that you need to know to be "culturally competent" involve what I feel are a lot of stereotypes. However, this book addresses that way of thinking, and I thought this was both informative and helpful. Anyone interested in working with people who are different than you (male, female, straight, gay, old, young, black, white, etc.) and want to do the best you can at making the person feel welcome and that they belong, should read this book.
I started purchasing as many textbooks as possible on the Kindle because I have found that it saves a significant amount of money. Last semester I took 4 classes, and saved over $200 because I bought all my textbooks on Kindle instead of purchasing Used copies from the University Bookstore. This textbook is one of the best Kindle books I have seen so far in terms of formatting and ease of use for Kindle.
Good luck!
